The Hungry Man

Your story on mining
Please consider

A man who is hungry
Sits down to dinner

He surveys the table
What will he eat first

He needn't hold back
He ne'er will burst

The flesh of the beasts
While it's still hot

Nothing can beat it
And there's not a lot

The vegetables next
Some better than others

But that's not the point
He slowly discovers

And to his dismay
He empties the plates

But the need to consume
Does not satiate

The forks and the spoons
The plates and the glasses

All of the vinegar
All the molasses

The only things left
The table and seat

No longer had purpose
With nothing to eat

Though the chewing was hard
The bulk of it all

Would teach him how to keep going
Once and for all

He considered the last bite
And his evolution

He looked at his hand
and had the solution

With nothing to grab
And nowhere to go

He needn't a finger
He needn't a toe

The more that he ate
The smaller he got

His hunger subsided
First a little then a lot

He lay on the floor
unable to move

His energy spreading
cross the floor in the grooves

The table was set
The invite was sent

Should he not have attended
Should he repent

A banquet sufficient
for the whole town

must not be consumed
By the first to sit down

It was a test
Revealed when concluded

Of whether the man
Could share what's included

And if he would bring about
His own destruction

Was the the whole point
Of his introduction
