The Bakery

a scent floating on the breeze
caught me unaware

led to a hidden bakery
I didn't know was there

the lights were dim, the door was locked
the cases full of sweets

I felt a pang of hunger
for the forbidden treats

slowly turning home
while lingering a gaze

from the back emerged
a young pattisier

I looked through my reflection
into eyes of deepest blue

she pulled the lock and whispered
i'll open just for you

you may try a sample
but then you have to go

if you find it to your liking
return when my sign glows

how I long to see that signal
the flashing neon glare

and taste the sweet creations
of my confectionaire
